I have been a physical therapist since I graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University in 1989. Prior to this, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin where I majored in Psychology with a minor in Zoology. Yes, I am a proud Texan but have lived happily in Northern Virginia for many years with my husband, daughter, and two dogs.
I am a Board Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist, a Vestibular Specialist, and an expert in Balance Rehabilitation. I have treated Orthopedic cases for 30 years and in the last fifteen years have focused on a sub-specialty in the area of Vestibular Rehabilitation which includes treatment of Vertigo and Dizziness.
Professional affiliations include membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), membership in the APTA sections of the Academy of Geriatrics and of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy, as well as membership in the Virginia Physical Therapy Association (VPTA). Special Interest Group (SIG) memberships through the APTA include the Balance and Falls SIG and the Vestibular SIG. My Advanced Credentialed Exercise Expert for Aging Adults (ACEEAA) certification was granted through the Academy of Geriatrics of the APTA. As well, I am a member of the Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) which I highly recommend to my vestibular patients as a valued resource, www.vestibular.org .
